wine-making accounts for a huge proportion of all insecticides used in farming. These chemicals not only destroy habitats but also work their way through the food chain and impact on all parts of the ecosystem. Organic vineyards have a high biodiversity and flowers grow between vines, bees, butterflies and birdsong fill the air and on closer inspection beneficial insects can be found devouring pests that could destroy the crop. Many people don't know that animal products can also be used during the clarifying process of wine and beers. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure that all our alcohol is both vegan and organic, and where possible we also try to offer Fairtrade choices.

We have a broad range of wines, including many popular grapes old and new, catering for all pockets and tastes. Our beer is sourced carefully - we buy direct from independent brewers who take pride in the uniqueness of their product. We have bottle-conditioned beers from Pitfields, distinct Belgium beers and unusual ingredients such as hemp and seaweed as well as a great range from our local brewer Little Valley in Hebden Bridge.

For those warm summer afternoons take a look at the cider, everything from light sparkling perry to strong still farmhouse cider. At the deli counter you will also find a small range of spirits and fortified wines including two superb ports. We believe in offering competitive prices across the store and our wide range of alcohol also reflects this.
