4% MAG (Mines Advisory Group)

MAG (Mines Advisory Group), is a Manchester based charity, which runs global landmine clearance operations all over the world in areas affected by conflict, removing unexploded arms that continue to kill and maim long after wars have ended. It is one of the world's leading humanitarian organisations, providing conflict-affected countries with a chance for a better future.

© MAG/Sean SuttonWe have been able to support a fantastic project in South East Asia, helping fund a team of women deminers (who locate and destroy landmines etc) in Laos, which borders Vietnam. The team will be working to make land safe for one of the poorest communities in the country where 30 years after the Vietnam War people are still suffering the effects. This project isn’t to clear landmines, but bombs that were dropped during the war but failed to go off, remaining as dangerous today as they did three decades ago. Much of the land cleared will be for agricultural use, some is also for clearing pathways to schools and markets.
