Led by women striving for social change, Sindyanna of Galilee has operated in the Arab population in northern Israel since 1996. It seeks to help growers and producers from the Palestinian Occupied Territories, and works in the community to empower Arab women whilst developing the olive industry.
Sindyanna focuses on fair-trade commerce, land preservation and other environmental considerations. Through Arab-Jewish cooperation, the organization demonstrates that real economic opportunities can provide a solution.
The name Sindyanna of Galilee refers to the Palestine Oak, known for its long life and enormous dimensions.
Sindyanna’s soaps contain 72% olive oil and no palm fat, are suitable for all skin types and come in a variety of scents. The Tbeleh family has been making soap for more than 500 years, and all their soaps include the crucial ingredient of Palestinian olive oil. The soap is made and cut by skilled craftsmen in beautiful old soap houses in the ancient city of Nablus, which has been producing soap since the 10th Century.
The soap is distributed in the UK by Zaytoun, a Community Interest Company founded in 2004 to create and develop a UK market for artisan Palestinian produce. Unicorn also sells Palestinian Olive Oil and Za’atar spice mix from Zaytoun.
